Notice to Inspect Distributor Cam Gear Before Install
Application: Intended for all Gear‐driven distributors
Symptom:Abnormal wear or breakage of the drive gear on distributor
Cause:Both the distributor gear and the cam gear wear together over time and form a wear pattern. When only one of them is changed, the chances of premature drive gear failure increases dramatically.
Solution:Check both gears for wear. If either of them is worn, both of them have to be replaced. Check oil pump for smooth rotation. Replace if it does not turn freely.
*IMPORTANT NOTE:When installing the replacement distributor, it is important to match the replacement with the original. Comparison points are laid out in the diagram and picture below.
